What is stress?

  • Stress is the feeling of being under too much mental or emotional pressure(pressure turns into stress when you feel unable to cope).
  • Stress can affect how you feel,think,behave and how your body works. In fact,common signs of stress include sleeping problem, excessive sweating,loss of appetite and difficulty in concentration in work.
  • Mental health refers to the maintenance of SUCCESSFUL MENTAL ACTIVITY.
  • This includes maintaining PRODUCTIVE DAILY ACTIVITIES & maintaining FULFILLING RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS. It is also includes maintaining the abilities to adapt to change and to COPE WITH STRESS.

Stress/mental health or mental illness get better with the help of coping strategies.it is help for big stressful life changes or negative situations can help keep a positive self image and maintain equilibrium.

Why is it important to learn to cope with stress or mental illness?and how to maintained our mental health?

Coping involves adjusting to tolerating negative events while when a person try keep positive self image and imotional equilibrium. while coping occurs in the context of life changes that are perceived to be stressful.

In the case of psychological stress person usually associated with negative life changes that is losing loved one or lost their job.after that even however in every situation person have to ability to adapt the changes.

Some how changes are stressful because changes require us to adjust and to adapt and many of the person can’t be adjust or can’t be adapt their situation and because of this going through many disorders like insomnia then insomnia leads to depression.

This perception contributes to low self-esteem and may contribute to the development of ANXIETY or DEPRESSION.

Basically coping involves adjusting to unusual demands or stressors.This requires giving a greater effort and using greater energy than what’s needed in the daily routines of life. prolonged mobilization of effort can contribute to elevate levels of stress related hormones and to eventual physical breakdown and illness.

Some common coping strategies

  • Lower expectations from others.
  • Ask other to help or assist.
  • Take responsibility for the situation.
  • Maintain emotionally supportive relationship.
  • Maintain emotional composure or alternatively, expressing distressing emotions.
  • Distance from the source of the stress.
  • Start writing journal.
  • Listening music that you like to listen.
  • Start positive self talk.
  • Writing a list of choices that you want to do in your life and do it.
  • Start exercising.

Benefits of coping strategies.

  • It will build self confidence.
  • It helps to manage Emotions.
  • It helps to manage stress.
  • It improves behaviour.
  • It helps in work through challenges.
  • It improves or we can say it help to live improve independence or grow a person.
